The Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department, in cooperation with GO Cedar Rapids and LAMBA, will host the GO CR Fat Sac & Fox Enduro Ride on Friday and Saturday, December 9 and 10. Events include culminate in a three hour endurance race on a 3.75 mile course.

The event includes a kick off on Friday with an interactive on trail/off trail evening taking riders on trails and pathways that are not part of the normal bike trail system. Riders will stop at several Cedar Rapids locations for food, drink and surprises along the way. The Friday ride ends at the SAG Wagon Deli & Brew with a celebration.

Saturday’s events begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Indian Creek Nature Center, 5300 Otis Rd. SE, with a free expo for riders, fans and the public. The expo will include panel discussions, Fat Bike demonstrations, a family area with bike related games and activities, and a Fat Santa Kids ride. Food vendors will be available at the site.

The Enduro ride will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday and take place on parts of the Sac & Fox Trail. Individual and team riders will ride as many laps as possible around the 3.75 mile course within a three hour time frame. Winners will be awarded in both individual and team categories. An award celebration will be held Saturday evening at the Broken Spoke in Cedar Rapids.

A raffle for a 2017 Specialized Fatboy SE Fat Bike (MSRP $1400) will be part of the event. The events sponsors include GO Cedar Rapids, Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department, LAMBA, Northtowne Cycling, Bike Rags, Goldfinch Cyclery and Hall Bicycle Company.
