Also, as you may or may not have noticed, many vehicles have been entering / exiting the parking lot via the lower grassy area at Beverly 37th Ave. SW… we need to cordially request you use the freshly graded & tamped gravel driveway, thank you Parks & Rec., when entering / exiting the vehicle area @ Beverly. Some signage, stakes, and tape has been installed on site to communicate this as well.

Okay folks. I test rode the new trail last night and my stoke meter is high. This is gonna be a fun trail.

Gonna pick up where we left off on Sunday. I’ll have things a little more organized so we can hit the ground running when we get there. I also hope to have most of the chainsawing and brush cutting completed by then. List of tasks:

1. Mcleod crews establishing tread where flagged.
2. Cut in power line crossings.
3. Establish connections to existing trails (if we make it that far).

Based on the work we got done last weekend I think this will be doable with a good turnout.

April 15th. 9am. Squaw Creek Maintenance parking lot (we’ll get closer if we can).

Lunch provided by LAMBA.

Please volunteer if you can.

P.S.: I know this is the same day as the Sylvan Island Stampede. I’m sorry and hate to do that, but this project must move forward as quickly as possible or users will make connections that shouldn’t be there where we don’t want them. I completely understand that there are those who plan on racing that day, and I fully encourage you to do so. Those FORC’ers are good folks and deserve our support.

Another bump for this workday. ILT and I spent about 4 more hours each out there today flagging more trail. The flagging part is almost done. Either way, we’ll be ready to start knocking it out on Sunday. Just so everybody knows, full disclosure:

1. The high on Sunday is going to be in the 80′s. I recommend camelbaks. Drink plenty of water.
2. Regardless of the temps, I suggest wearing pants, long sleeves, and gloves. We’re going through some thick stuff that includes thorns.
3. Bug spray is recommended as well. The skeeters and ticks will be out.
4. There is a lot of deadfall to clear. The mowers and chainsaws will get a workout this weekend.
5. At no point in the flagging of this trail has the right line been sacrificed due to the work entailed in clearing it. Once the corridor is cleared, the dirt will be perfect for trail building.

Hope to see you all out there. This trail is going to rawk.

Hey Everybody!!!!!!!
This coming Sunday.  It’s April 1st but we’re not fooling around.  We have a great opportunity in front of at Squaw Creek and we need as much help out there as we can get.  We’re expanding upon what’s already built out there to make a loop worth driving to.  This will add I think somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 miles of trail out there.  There is a lot of deadfall and brush that needs to be cut out and we’ll need a small army of people on McLeods.  I hope to have the complete trail flagged in by the end of the week so we can get right down to business.Please come out and help if you can.  The truth is that in terms of acreage, this park is bigger than Sugarbottom.  It could be a big deal so we need to show that we’re serious about our efforts out there and do this right!Lunch will be provided.  

April 1st.  9am.  Maintenance station parking lot.  Squaw Creek Park.

Wear clothing appropriate for the weather and walking around in tall grass and woodlands, hat and gloves strongly advised. Bring water for yourself and maybe even the trees as it is a drier spring that anticipated.

Meet at the front side parking lot.  If there is lightning, the date will be canceled.

B: All but low lying areas are dry. Ride but use caution in wet spots.
C: Tacky and wet in low lying areas. Rideable, but your attention on workdays would be apprecitated.
D: Do Not Ride. Damage to the trails is likely.
F: Trails are not rideable. Any riding is certain to do damage that will cause unnecessary trail maintenance.
