FINALLY! Beverly MTB Time Trail Sat. Aug 27th 9AM

Late notice but it is happening. Time Trial at Beverly Park Saturday Morning Aug 27th.

Registration starts at 9AM.
Kids hit the course at 10AM.
Adults hit the course at 10:30ish.

Kids course has a choice depending on the parents. Trail 1 (small kids loop) or Trail 2 (Frontside loop). Kids loops are free.

The map for the full loop will be released this week sometime. Only 3 trails were skipped to create the longest loop possible in the park without crossover or 2 way traffic down singletrack. Full loop is $5/person.

We need a few course marshals and volunteers to help tape the course Saturday morning. We also need some racers so spread the word.

Trail Work @ Beverly Saturday AM… Early!

Those interested in beating the heat are welcome to join us trail working crazies @ 8am this Saturday… we will move from the front side through the gate off 21st Street to the Drop Trail 17 area where we will unload donated materials for construction of a berm.

Other projects include:

  • Mowing / trimming of designated trails.
  • Debris removal from trail tread in all areas.
  • Pruning of materials protruding into trail corridors.
  • Chainsaw trees that are low hanging / blocking trails.
  • De-berming trails, allowing water to leave tread (training required).

As always, dress appropriately for the weather and being in the woods… hat, gloves, sunblock, bug spray, and water are highly recommended.

Update:

  • Some downed and leaning trees were taken out of contention.
  • We were able to get one more truck load of dirt to the Drop Trail 17 berm, began raining which made it quite the feat.
  • The old farm road and some more trails were mowed.

Thanks everyone for showing up and helping out!

Please keep in mind that the trails are we and in POOR condition, riding them WILL cause damage, especially in the areas of recent work activity.

Family Ride/Picnic @ Beverly Park Sunday, July 17 4-7pm

Family Mountain Bike Ride/Picnic @ Beverly Park Sunday, July 17 4-7pm
This is going to be similar to our Wednesday night rides. Bring some brats, hot dogs, burgers, or whatever you want to throw on the grill. Sounds like it will be a warm night so bring plenty to drink also. The parking area at this time should be shaded but we will also set up a tent if we need some more shade.

All levels of rider are welcome and we will have people leading groups to show them around the park. Bring the kids so they can roam the Kid’s Loop, play in the open field, and explore the Frontside Loop all within earshot of the parking lot. The trails are really great shape after the rains earlier this week.

Informal trail work / clean up – FRIDAY, July 15!

Was able to spend some time at Beverly over the past few days and one thing I am certain of is that the trails are in need of a little love (i.e. loppers, debris clearing, mowing in some spots, etc.)

My plan is to be out there all day Friday, if anyone would like to join please show up / reply… will share my cell with interested persons so I can be found if / when said persons arrive to lend some time…

Thanks!

Ken

Beverly Park Workday 7/9 9:30AM

Beverly workday Saturday July 9. Start time 9:30 am, sandwiches at noon.

Two projects:

  1. install barrier fence posts east end of south meadow
  2. Rob will pick up fence posts to drive into the east end of the south meadow to stop trucks

We need a volunteer to head this project up.
  3. cut oriental bittersweet vines killing trees east end
  4. Rob will lead a crew into the east end of the park near trails 14, 15 etc to go after the oriental bittersweet that is killing (crowning) many trees. Mainly a project with loppers and maybe a small chain saw. It is really bad and we don’t want to let them go to seed.

If there is some mowing to do, somebody could tackle that also.
